Join us to hear from a panel of foundation and corporate program officers to learn how you can strengthen your applications and your relationships with funders. Meet the Funders is your chance to hear directly from the people who read the grants we submit. Panelists will share what stands out in a proposal, pet peeves, how they are considering AI, and much more.

ABOUT OUR PANELISTS:

Susan Abbott, Director of Grant Programs, ArtsWestchester

Sue has an extensive background in grants management and nonprofit administration and is currently the Director of Grant Programs at ArtsWestchester where she oversees a $2+ million grantmaking budget supporting artists and organizations in Westchester and Rockland Counties. She holds an MFA in Performing Arts Management, previous professional experience includes Business Manager of Miller Theatre at Columbia University, Contracts Manager at United Scenic Artists Local 829 and General Management Assistant at New York City Center. Sue is committed to supporting artists and cultural groups in the lower Hudson Valley and welcomes the opportunity to forge new connections and foster cultural development and growth.

Liza Primeau, Managing Director of Programs, Mother Cabrini Health Foundation

Liza leads the grantmaking team at the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation as the Managing Director of Programs. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and 16 years in philanthropy. Prior to joining MCHF, Liza was Senior Philanthropic Advisor at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) where she worked with individuals, foundations, and corporations to launch foundations, design grantmaking strategies, develop operating plans, and implement philanthropic programs. Liza has experience building and developing programs in a broad array of issue areas including health, education, housing, human services, and social justice. Prior to joining RPA, Liza began her career at the American Institutes of Research in Washington, DC focusing on education research, followed by philanthropic advising at The Philanthropic Initiative at The Boston Foundation in Boston, MA. Liza graduated with a BA in Communications and History from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, VA. She lives in Westchester with her husband and two young daughters.

Kara McLoughlin D’Angelo, Executive Director, Patrina Foundation

Kara McLoughlin is the executive director of the Patrina Foundation, a three-generation family foundation supporting girls’ and women’s social and educational programming. She brings to this panel financial analysis, marketing, and advertising acumen, and her ability for bringing people together garnered from her years in the financial services, philanthropy, and many hours of volunteering with community nonprofits and alumni associations. Most recently, Kara launched a podcast called SHE the Change and was elected to the Pelham Town Council. She graduated from Duke University and holds an MBA from Columbia University. She lives in Pelham, NY with her husband and two children. Her stepdaughter is an ADA in New York City.

Tara Seeley, Senior Program Officer, Westchester Community Foundation

Tara Seeley has been with WCF since 2016. She is responsible for the Foundation’s grantmaking programs in the areas of workforce development and job placement, community development, access, social justice, and conservation and environment. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was a program officer at the Central Indiana Community Foundation. She has held professional and volunteer leadership positions in Montgomery County, MD, and Indianapolis, IN, in community development, with a focus on affordable housing and economic and workforce development.

She holds a J.D./M.Div. degree from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from Sewanee: The University of the South.

In her spare time Tara is taking classes at New York Botanical Garden, exploring the many wonders of New York City and Westchester County, and enjoying time in Brooklyn with her two sons and their families.

Sybil St. Germain, Market Administrator/Manager, KeyBank

Sybil St. Germain is a native New Yorker who grew up in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. She went to college back in the U.S. and then started her career as a television producer at MTV Networks. She also studied film production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Following Haiti’s earthquake in 2010, Sybil spearheaded a fundraiser with help from Robert Sillerman, the Clinton Global Initiative, and the then President of Haiti, Rene Paval, for medical supplies, food, and essentials. They raised $8 million.

Currently a Market Administrator/Manager at KeyBank, Sybil helps identify organizations and nonprofits to sponsor in the Metro New York and Hudson Valley, helping LMI communities. Throughout the years, her volunteer service has included volunteer training at Gallop NYC; collaborating with Doc to Dock, a nonprofit bringing medical supplies and doctors to borders; volunteering at The Bowery Mission; and mentoring young adults at Lakay se Lakay in Haiti.

Through her love of caring for others, Sybil enjoys mentoring the youth and raising funds to help underserved countries.
